The KHManager is a special, app-controlled, standalone device that automatically samples and tests your aquarium water, then calculates and doses an exact volume of KH solution to maintain a constant alkalinity level in your aquarium.
The expandable multi-element dosing function uses built-in software that allows you to connect the KHManager to special DD dosing pumps so that other elements, such as calcium and magnesium, can be automatically calculated and dosed in proportion to the measured KH consumption.
The KHManager was developed in cooperation between DD and Kamoer for the European market and combines Kamoer's experience in manufacturing high-precision dosing devices for the medical sector with DD's knowledge and understanding of the specific requirements for controlling alkalinity in a modern reef aquarium.
The stepper motor driven pump heads, precision pH probe, dual optical sensors, automatic stirring and rinsing protocols are all important features that ensure each test sample is collected, tested and dispensed with the greatest accuracy possible. Unexpected high or low readings (out of trend) are automatically retested to prevent sampling errors and user-defined limits warn of over- or under-dispensing outside of set parameters.
Automatic and manual testing
In the app it is possible to manually perform an immediate test with the KH Manager or to set up a regular automatic test plan.
Automatic schedules can be programmed to check between 1 and 24 times per day. This can happen every day of the week, specific days of the week, or a specific number of days, giving the user complete flexibility.
After each test, the result is shown on the device display for a quick overview, along with the time and date the test was performed. A full data log for both pH and KH is shown in the app, along with the automatic addition of KH buffer solution if the dosing option is enabled.
Automated dosing of KH buffer
Automatic KH maintenance can be activated to maintain a stable and consistent level. Once the test has been performed, a special built-in dosing channel is activated to add a liquid buffer that raises the KH level in the aquarium to the set point specified by the user.
The amount of buffer added in one dose can be limited to avoid large single additions. If the amount to be dosed is higher than the amount allowed in one addition, an automatic dosing plan is created to break the dose down into smaller increments over a period of time and displayed in the app.
The settings in the app allow the use of Kamoer's standard KH buffer or any other brand of KH buffer solution.
WiFi Cloud or Bluetooth app control
The KH Manager can be fully controlled via an app on your smartphone or tablet. The free app download is available for both iOS and Android.
With the Kamoer Remote app, you can choose to connect the pump via your home router and access the device from anywhere in the world, or use a local Bluetooth connection to connect directly from your mobile device. Both options give you full access to all settings.
The app can be used to set calibration, firmware updates (when connected via a home router), test plans, data monitoring, and test and dosing modes.
warnings and alarms
For any equipment that performs automated processes in a reef aquarium, it is important that any anomalies are displayed in real time so that any problems can be corrected.
In addition to the integrated monitoring of dosing, reagent and waste containers (if used), the KH Manager warns when attention is required and various warning parameters can be set or are already active.
Push notifications can be enabled for test results that are outside the set range, such as when a test result is abnormal compared to the last one, when the reagent is not detected correctly, or when the pH probe is not measuring correctly. There is also an in-app notification prompting you to recalibrate the device, which will appear after the reset.
The KH Manager can also be set to perform an automatic second test to confirm an abnormal reading or automatically increase the test rate until the KH level is within the desired range. The LCD display on the front of the unit shows high, low or normal with the last tested KH and pH values for quick reference.
Color-coded hose connections
For ease of use, the hose connectors on the back of the unit are color-coded to match the hoses supplied with the unit. This allows you to identify each hose without having to search for them in your cabinet and prevents hoses from being confused or installed incorrectly. The easy-release twist locks make connecting and disconnecting hoses easy, even in tight spaces.
4 dosing pumps
The KH Manager is supplied as standard with four easily accessible dosing pumps.
Three of the pumps are driven by a stepper motor and are highly precise. They are used for taking the sample water from the aquarium or sump, dosing the test reagent and adding the KH buffer solution. The fourth pump is a long-life gear pump for removing water from the test cup during the rinse and wash cycles before testing.
All tubing leading to and from the pump heads can be easily replaced without disassembling the unit or requiring special tools. A hinged magnetic side panel allows easy access to the pump heads and pH probe connection.
