UNCOMPROMISING FLOW

In an aquarium, the right flow rate is critical to the health of the ecosystem. With VorTech® choosing the right water circulation equipment for QuietDrive® has never been easier.

VorTech pumps are developed by aquarists as the gold standard for flow delivery in saltwater aquariums. When it comes to a wide, yet gentle flow, the VorTech design is unmatched.

  • Create massive water movements
  • No coral-damaging “hot spots”
  • Natural vortex
  • tank-wide flow pattern
  • Precise control of water movement

MAGNETIC COUPLE

At the heart of VorTech 's success lies its unique, patented, magnetically coupled design.

  • No distraction from the beauty of the aquarium and its inhabitants
  • No cables in the aquarium
  • No unwanted heat is added to the water column
  • There is no danger of electrical discharges harming humans or marine life
  • No hassle when installing, moving or cleaning the drive head

VORTECH® MODES

FLIESSE

lagoon mode

Lagoon mode simulates a lagoon environment with low energy consumption. The speed of the pump is slowly changed to replicate the gentle currents of a lagoon.

reef comb mode

Reef Crest Random mode simulates a high energy reef environment. The pump changes speed frequently and drastically to simulate crashing waves and rising tides. This is a favorite of the SPS coral.

Gyre mode

Gyre mode creates a flow pattern consisting of uniform clockwise and counterclockwise flow levels that pulsate at a selected interval between two seconds and two hours.

*Alternative directional vortex requires multiple pumps.

short pulse mode

The short pulse mode produces a flow pattern consisting of uniform high and low levels that pulsate at a selected interval between 0.2 seconds and 2 seconds.

tidal wave mode

Tidal Swell Mode (TSM) creates a harmonious balance reminiscent of the changing flow conditions found in nature. Over the course of several hours, the flow pattern changes from very chaotic to calm, followed by a burst to clear debris at the very end of the cycle. The flow direction changes with each cycle.

nutrient transport mode

Nutrient Transport Mode (NTM) creates circulation in a two-phase program. The first phase uses wave motion to stir up detritus. The second phase follows with a pulsing motion to move the debris into the overflow and out of the tank. This mode promotes maximum health, nutrient export and increased growth for delicate corals like SPS.

FUNCTION

feed mode

At the push of a button, all wirelessly activated VorTech® pumps temporarily pause their current mode and idle, allowing food to be added to the tank without entering the overflow and filtration.

night mode

Pumps can be activated to run a gentler night program that simulates calmer sea conditions for the night hours.

Wave-Auto-Tune

Create a standing wave in your aquarium and demonstrate the true power of the fully functional VorTech® QuietDrive® control system.

CAPABILITY

communication with multiple pumps

All VorTech® pumps marked with "w" come with an RF module installed. The RF module allows up to 8 "w" pumps of any type to work together in synchronous, anti-sync or coordinated mode.

EcoSmart® Live via mobile device

All VorTech® pumps marked with a "w" are compatible with ReefLink®. ReefLink provides completely wireless access to the world of EcoSmart Live, EcoTech Marine®'s web-based aquarium command center.

battery backup mode

Snowstorm. Hurricane. A driver crashes into a power pole. Things happen. The power goes out... VorTech® pumps are compatible with the EcoTech® Battery Backup accessory.

A constantly growing ecosystem

You've invested in your ecosystem with the smartest and most powerful EcoTech® equipment. Now unlock the true potential of this system with just one app on your smart device.

COMPATIBLE WITH BATTERY BACKUP

In an aquarium without current, fish and corals can die after just 4 to 10 hours. The Battery Backup is reef aquarium insurance in an aluminum housing.

By adding battery backup**, your tank is protected from power interruptions, helping to protect your valuable investment – and your tank inhabitants.

*Hours are estimated and will vary based on battery life, pump mode and other factors.
** For best performance in the pump back configuration, a Vectra Battery Backup Booster is required.

HOW DO I CHOOSE?

In an aquarium, the right flow rate is critical to the health of the ecosystem. Choosing the right water circulation equipment has never been easier.

With VorTech®'s recommended flow calculator, simply enter your tank dimensions to see the maximum and minimum flow rates required. Add or remove powerheads to determine which VorTech selection best meets those needs.
