The new digital salinity tester HI98319 was specially developed for measurements in saltwater aquariums. In simple terms, salinity is the salt content in water, so determining the salinity in saltwater aquariums is of course particularly important. The tester shows the values in ppt (parts per thousand), PSU (practical salinity units) or in SG (specific gravity). The large multilevel display allows one of the units mentioned to be shown at the same time as the measured temperature in °C or °F. The stability factor and calibration status can also be read on the LCD. When switched on, the tester shows the current battery level.
The waterproof tester uses a built-in amperometric graphite conductivity probe to determine the salinity up to 70.00ppt in the water, the values are automatically temperature compensated by the built-in temperature sensor. The amperometric graphite probe resists oxidation and thus creates more reproducible readings and is not as susceptible to the polarization effect as testers that use two stainless steel pins.
The modern and waterproof housing not only makes the tester visually attractive for applications in aquariums, you also don't have to worry if the tester falls into the aquarium. It is super easy to use and only requires two buttons, one for switching on and off and the second for calibration. Calibration is done at the touch of a button with a standard value of 35.00 ppt. As soon as calibration is complete, the tester returns to measurement mode. The tester also has a setup mode in the battery compartment, which can be used to set the automatic shutdown between 8 and 60 minutes or deactivated, for example. The automatic shutdown saves battery life. The batteries supplied have a service life of around 100 operating hours.
