Safety Stop is a simple and effective way to protect your saltwater and freshwater aquarium fish from serious unwanted disease outbreaks caused by parasites as well as bacterial infections such as fungal infections. New fish are often the source of infectious diseases that can wipe out an entire aquarium. Be proactive and give your fish a safety bath to significantly reduce the risk of fatal diseases.
There is no substitute for an extended quarantine in a separate quarantine tank !
We recommend using Safety Stop before adding the new fish to your main aquarium or quarantine tank.
How to use Safty Stop:
Take the fish home from the fish store promptly. Before the Safety Stop bath, adjust the fish to the same temperature and pH of the aquarium. While the fish is acclimating, prepare two baths: In clean, non-metallic containers (i.e. a plastic or glass bucket), add 4 liters of aquarium water directly from the aquarium to each bucket. Using scissors, cut the edge of the product packages and pour liquid A into the first container and liquid B into the second container. Monitor temperature changes. Gently agitate both solutions with an air stone. Leave the air stones in the container to oxygenate the water
provide when the fish is in the bath. Remove the fish to be treated from the acclimation water and leave it in Bath A with Liquid A for 45 minutes (30 minutes if the fish was shipped overnight within the last 72 hours). Make sure the fish does not jump out. Watch the fish carefully for signs of stress throughout the treatment process. Signs of stress include heavy breathing, erratic swimming, rolling, etc. If the fish shows signs of stress, reduce the time and immediately place it in Bath B with Liquid B. After 45 minutes, transfer the fish from Bath A to Bath B. Continue to watch for signs of stress. If signs of stress appear, remove them before treatment is finished and transfer them to a quarantine tank or prepared aquarium.
Do not add bath water to the aquarium. After treatment, B is net fish into the aquarium. Observe the fish after introduction into the tank to make sure the other fish do not disturb the newcomer. Feed your fish in the aquarium while introducing the newcomer to keep the resident fish occupied. Keep the light level low for 24 hours after introduction.
